Pitching Stories in the Challenging News Environment
Please join me for this important conversation on “Pitching Stories in the Challenging News Environment” on July 29.
Pitching traditional news outlets is getting harder and harder every day. Newspapers keep closing down, DC bureaus are vanishing, and reporters are being laid off or are now covering multiple beats. And television networks increasingly rely on their own paid analysts and journalists to provide commentary so the number of slots available for outside guests has decreased.
Sarah Massey will facilitate a brainstorming lunch to share ideas on how to break through. Please come to the session with an example of how you’re successfully changing the way you pitch the press given the challenging environment.
For example:
- How are you improving the newsworthiness of your pitches so they meet the higher bar needed to be successful?
- Are you offering more exclusives?
- Are you using Twitter or Facebook to reach reporters?
